As an educator, I believe that it is our goal to foster a healthy environment for all children. It is our responsibility to help children meet their developmental goals through nurture, respect, and a safe relationship and environment. We should be respectful to all children irrespective of their cultural, ethnic, economic background
Children who experience high-quality, stable child care
engage in more complex plays and demonstrate more secure attachments to adults
and other children, and score higher on measures of thinking ability and
language development. High-quality child care can predict academic success,
adjustment to school, and reduced behavioral problems for children in first
grade. Children's success or failure
during the first years of school often predicts the course of later schooling.
A growing body of research indicates that more developmentally appropriate
teaching in preschool and kindergarten predicts greater success in the early
grades.
Division of Early
Childhood - Code of Ethics
Personal and Interpersonal Behavior
4. We shall advocate for equal access to high quality services and supports for all children and families to enhance their quality of lives (DEC, 2009).
As an educator of early childhood education, I must make sure that the education is equally accessible to all children that I serve. I should also strive to improve the quality of lives of my children and their families.

Ruby,
ReplyDeleteI also chose DEC’s Professional and Interpersonal Behavior ideal number two. In my opinion this is one of the most important ideals a code of ethics must have. I am a strong believer that having good values and acting as such can change the world; that’s what makes good people. If you are true to your values, then you can relate to others and understand their need and then help covering them.
Laure,
ReplyDeleteI agree "To establish and maintain relationships of respect, trust, confidentiality, collaboration, and cooperation with coworkers”. Working together and communicating with each other in the work setting helps children build their relationship with their peers. Being respectful and collaborating with each other is good and is very good in this field. Working with young children can be stressful at times and your co-worker may be able to help if the confidentiality, collaboration and cooperation with co-workers are good.
Ruby, I really appreciate and value the items you listed in your post this week. I think they are all critical and important ideals we should each value and try our best to utilize in the field. I can feel your interest, passion, and drive for this field coming through with each passing week's posts. Thank you for sharing! :)
